Parts Production

Most of the parts in a Xootr scooter are custom-designed by our engineers and produced on our own CNC machine tools. (Of course, we buy standard catalog items like bearings and fasteners from suppliers.) Here you see machining expert, Jeff Gilman, next to a Cincinatti Milacron vertical machining center. We use these machines to make, for example, our steer support.

Making parts like these economically using CNC machines requires clever design of tooling and fixtures. The steer supports (below right) are made eight at a time on a fixture that can be quickly inserted on the bed of the CNC machine (below left). (Yes, those are Jeff's legs. And yes, he should be wearing protective footwear...)
