Wheel Replacement

Rear Wheel Replacement Instructions (for non-Mg's)
Front Brake Xootr

The following is a list of recommended tools necessary for replacing the Rear Wheel.

  • 5 mm Hex Key (or 10 mm Wrench for pre 2004 scooters)
  • 10 mm Socket
  • 4 mm Hex Key
  • Grease

Step 1, Removing the Deck

Before the rear wheel can be accessed, the deck must be removed. To remove the deck, first remove the bolt that locks the rear wheel in place using the 5 mm hex key (or 10 mm wrench) and 10 mm socket. Then, using the 4 mm hex key, loosen and remove the four screws that hold the deck flat against the frame.

Step 2, Removing the Old Wheel

Simply spread the ribs open and remove the rear axle with the wheel still on it.

Step 3, Installing the New Rear Wheel

To install the new wheel, place the new shaft/rear axle through the bearings, which have been pre-pressed into the center of the wheel rim. The tolerances of the bearings and the shaft are very close, so it is important not to force the shaft into place. If it is properly aligned, it will slide through. Once the shaft is in place, stick a wheel spacer on both sides. We use a bit of grease to keep them stuck in place while the rear wheel assembly is being put back together. I have sent you spacers with a light coat of grease on them, however if they do not stick they may need a bit more. Spread the ribs again and set the new rear axle back into its hole. Replace and tighten the rear wheel bolt and give it a spin to make sure the axle and spacers are sitting correctly.

Step 4, Replace the Deck

Remove the rear wheel bolt and place the deck back onto the ribs, in its original position. Screw it down using the flat head deck screws. Then, replace and tighten the rear wheel bolt and give it a spin to make sure the axle and spacers are still sitting correctly.
