FOLDED DIMENSIONS
Below are images of the Swift in various fold configurations along with approximate dimensions. The nice thing about the Swift is that you are in charge of the folded size. The Swift can be quickly folded in about 5 seconds to a size appropriate for taking on the train or bus, or for storing in your cubicle. However, when the need arises you can get the Swift quite small with a few additional steps to the normal quick folding procedure.
No the Swift does not fold into a tiny little square, but does it really need to? The goal of the Swift is to provide you with a folding bike that rides like a full-size bike. When comparing the Swift to other folding bicycles take note of how many hinges the bike has and where those hinges are located. Hinges, depending on their location, add flex, weight, and complexity. The Swift has only one pivot point, located in the main tube and locked with the seat post. When the bike is deployed and ready to ride, the seat post holds this joint solid and you feel no flex. Compared to other folding bicycles the Swift is also very narrow, so it fits nicely into cramped closets, rv's, boats, planes, etc.
This image shows the Swift in the
quick-fold configuration which is done simply by loosening the 2 quick-release levers that secure the seat post and folding the Swift in half. In this configuration the Swift measures 36.5" L x 40.25" H x 20" W. The handlebars are the wide point in this configuration. (All dimensions on this page are to the very extremes of the bike, including any protrusions like pedals or handlebars.) Removing the handlebar riser, by loosening the quick-release lever that secures the riser to the fork, makes the Swift 36.5" L x 40.25" H x 14.5" W.
This image shows the Swift in the
quick-fold configuration, with a pair of the
Eleven81 folding pedals, and the riser removed. In this configuration the Swift measures 36.5" L x 37.25" H x 10.25" W. Removing the front wheel (also done by loosening a quick-release lever) makes the Swift 30" L x 37.25" H x 10.25" W.
This image shows the Swift resting on the seat and the rear wheel. With the seat turned this way it provides a nice stable way of storing the Swift. This is the same folding configuration as pictured above, but with the front wheel removed. In this configuration the Swift measures 39" L x 23.25" H x 10.25" W.
This image shows the Swift with the seat post removed and resting on the front forks. In this configuration the Swift measures 32" L x 24.25" H x 10.25" W.
The goal here is to show various folding configurations you would typically use day to day. The Swift can get even smaller, but this requires removing the rear wheel. For most riders, the only time it may be necessary to remove the rear wheel is when
packing the Swift in a suitcase.
